Course Description This course will be taken by those seeking illumination in the Orthodox Christian Faith. Through 20 weeks of intensive study, a succinct, yet comprehensive, introduction to the Orthodox Christian Faith will be undergone to prepare catechumens for Holy Illumination. Course Objectives 1) To learn the elementary dogmas of the Holy Church 2) To prepare oneself academically, intellectually, and spiritually for Holy Illumination and ongoing divinization 3) To become equipped and competent witnesses in Midtown Manhattan to the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ Course Requirements 1) To complete the weekly reading and homework 2) A midterm assessment with the primary catechist after Week 10 and before Week 11 3) A term paper of 10-12 pages on the differences between Orthodox Christianity and the faith tradition from which the catechumen is converting 4) A final assessment with the Very Reverend following the course Required Text: The Orthodox Study Bible (everything else will be available digitally)
